Kodi plays rentIPTV through the official PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on, which is in Kodi’s own repository. These steps are for Kodi 19, 20 and 21.
The login details in this guide (username demo4821, password pass7395) are examples. Use the ones from your own welcome email.
Step 1: Install PVR IPTV Simple Client
- Open Kodi and select the Settings (gear) icon.
- Go to Add-ons > Install from repository.
- Select PVR clients > PVR IPTV Simple Client > Install.
On Linux, if PVR IPTV Simple Client isn’t in the list, install it from your distribution’s package manager (the package is usually called kodi-pvr-iptvsimple).
Step 2: Add your playlist
- Go back to Add-ons > My add-ons > PVR clients > PVR IPTV Simple Client > Configure.
- In Kodi 20 and later you’ll see a list of configurations. Select the default one, or Add add-on configuration.
- Under General, set Location to Remote path (internet address).
- Set M3U playlist URL to your categorized M3U link:
http://server1.rentiptv.com:80/get.php?username=demo4821&password=pass7395&type=m3u_plus&output=ts
Step 3: Add the TV guide
- Open the EPG (or EPG settings) tab.
- Set Location to Remote path (internet address).
- Set XMLTV URL to:
http://server1.rentiptv.com:80/xmltv.php?username=demo4821&password=pass7395
- Select OK. Restart Kodi when asked.
Step 4: Watch
From the Kodi home screen, select TV. Channels load on the first start, which can take a few minutes with a large playlist. Use Guide for the programme guide.
Tips
- Kodi’s live TV section shows channels only. For movies and series on demand, use an IPTV app or the web player.
- If channels or the guide don’t appear, go to Settings > PVR & Live TV > General > Clear data and restart Kodi.
