Some internet providers slow down or block IPTV traffic, often during big football matches and other live events. The server is working, but the stream can’t reach you.
Signs your provider is blocking or slowing streams
- Channels stop working at the same time on every device in your home, while the internet otherwise works.
- Problems start just before big matches and clear up afterwards.
- The app loads the channel list, but channels won’t play or keep spinning.
- Everything works when you test on mobile data or at another address.
How to test it
- Connect your phone to mobile data (Wi-Fi off) and play a channel in IPTV Smarters or the web player.
- If it plays on mobile data but not on your home internet, your home provider is the likely cause.
The fix: use a VPN
A VPN hides what kind of traffic you’re using, so your provider can’t single out the stream.
- Choose a reputable VPN with fast servers and an app for your device. Most well-known VPNs have apps for Fire TV, Android TV, phones and computers.
- Install the VPN app on the device you watch on and connect to a server close to you (in your own country is usually fastest).
- Open your IPTV app and play a channel.

Free VPNs are usually too slow for HD video. Choose a paid VPN with a free trial or money-back period so you can test it.
Other things that can help
- Change your DNS to Cloudflare (
1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8) in your router or device network settings. This helps if your provider blocks by DNS. - Restart your router to get a new connection.
