Roku’s Channel Store doesn’t carry IPTV players such as IPTV Smarters or TiviMate, so Roku takes a little more work than other devices. Here are three ways to watch, from easiest to most technical.

The login details in this guide (username demo4821, password pass7395) are examples. Use the ones from your own welcome email.

Option 1: Plug in a Fire TV Stick (easiest)

If your TV has a spare HDMI port, a Fire TV Stick or Android TV stick costs little and runs every IPTV app properly, with a full TV guide. Fire TV Stick guide.

Option 2: Mirror your phone to the Roku

This is quick to set up. Picture quality depends on your Wi-Fi.

  1. On the Roku, go to Settings > System > Screen mirroring and set it to Prompt or Always allow.
  2. Install IPTV Smarters Pro on your Android phone or IPTV Smarters Player Lite on your iPhone and sign in.
  3. Make sure the phone and Roku are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  4. Android: open Smart View, Screen cast or Cast in your quick settings and choose the Roku. iPhone: open Control Centre > Screen Mirroring and choose the Roku (newer Roku models support AirPlay).
  5. Play a channel on the phone.

Option 3: Install IPTV Smarters with Roku developer mode

Roku lets you install one app from your computer using its developer mode. It takes about 15 minutes and you need a computer on the same network.

Part 1: Turn on developer mode

  1. On the Roku remote, press: Home 3 times, Up 2 times, then Right, Left, Right, Left, Right.
  2. The Developer Settings screen opens. Write down the IP address shown (for example 192.168.1.25).
  3. Select Enable installer and restart and accept the licence agreement.
  4. Create a web server password and write it down.
  5. Select Set password and reboot. The Roku restarts.

Part 2: Download the IPTV Smarters package

On your computer, download the IPTV Smarters package for Roku from https://bit.ly/IPTVSmartersProRokuApp. Save the .zip file somewhere easy to find, such as your Desktop. Don’t unzip it.

Part 3: Upload it to the Roku

  1. On the computer, open a browser and type the Roku’s IP address from Part 1 into the address bar, for example http://192.168.1.25.
  2. Sign in with username rokudev and the web server password you created.
  3. Select Upload, choose the .zip file you downloaded, then select Install (on some versions, Install with zip).
  4. When it finishes, IPTV Smarters opens on the Roku.

Part 4: Sign in

In IPTV Smarters on the Roku, choose Login with Xtream Codes API and enter:

  • Any name: rentIPTV
  • Username: demo4821
  • Password: pass7395
  • URL: http://server1.rentiptv.com:8880

Roku keeps only one developer-mode app at a time. If you install another one this way, it replaces IPTV Smarters. The app may also need reinstalling after some Roku software updates.

Which option should I choose?

  • Want the best experience? Option 1, a Fire TV Stick.
  • Want to watch tonight with what you have? Option 2, mirroring.
  • Comfortable with a few technical steps? Option 3, developer mode.

If something isn’t working

  • Can’t open Developer Settings: press the button sequence again slowly, starting from the Home screen.
  • Browser can’t reach the Roku’s IP address: check the computer and Roku are on the same network, and type http:// before the address.
  • Login errors: Login failed or expired.
