SO Player is a simple, free IPTV player that works well on Fire TV Sticks and Android TV boxes. It has separate sections for live TV, movies and series, and is quick to set up.

The login details in this guide (username demo4821, password pass7395) are examples. Use the ones from your own welcome email.

Step 1: Get Downloader ready

SO Player isn’t in the Amazon Appstore, so you install it with the free Downloader app. If you haven’t done this before, follow Fire TV Stick: install apps with Downloader to install Downloader and allow it to install apps. You only need to do this once.

Step 2: Install SO Player

  1. Open Downloader and select the address box on the Home tab.
  2. Type bit.ly/soplayerappdownload and select Go.
  3. When the download finishes, select Install.
  4. Select Done, then Delete twice to remove the installer file and free up space.

On an Android phone or Android TV box you can also download it from our SO Player download page.

Step 3: Sign in with your rentIPTV login

  1. Open SO Player from Your Apps & Channels (hold the Home button and select Apps).
  2. Allow the permissions it asks for.
  3. On the sign-in screen, choose to add a service with Xtream Codes (it may be labelled Xtream or Login with username and password).
  4. Enter:
  • Server URL: http://server1.rentiptv.com:8880
  • Username: demo4821
  • Password: pass7395
  1. Select Sign in or Save. SO Player loads your channels, movies and series.

If SO Player only shows a provider list or a code field, look for an option such as Add user or Other to reach the username and password screen.

Step 4: Start watching

  • Live TV: browse by country and category, or use search.
  • TV guide: open Live TV and switch to the guide view. If it’s empty, refresh the EPG in settings. TV guide help.
  • Movies and Series: browse or search more than 153,000 movies and 14,000 series.
  • Favourites: highlight a channel and press and hold OK to add it.

Put SO Player on your home screen

Hold Home, select Apps, highlight SO Player, press the Menu button (three lines) and choose Move to front.
