TiviMate is our favourite app for watching rentIPTV on a TV. It looks and works like a cable box: channels down the left, the programme guide alongside, and a remote-friendly layout. This guide covers installing it, signing in and getting the most out of it.

The login details in this guide (username demo4821, password pass7395) are examples. Use the ones from your own welcome email.

Free or Premium?

TiviMate is free to install and play live TV. A paid Premium upgrade, sold by TiviMate’s developer (not by us), adds favourites, catch-up, recording, multi-view and other extras. You can try Premium free for a few days before deciding. Check the current price in the TiviMate Companion app, described below.

Step 1: Install TiviMate

On Android TV, Google TV or an Android TV box

Open the Google Play Store on the TV, search for TiviMate IPTV Player and install it.

On a Fire TV Stick

TiviMate isn’t in the Amazon Appstore, so you install it with the free Downloader app.

  1. Set up Downloader and allow it to install apps: Fire TV Stick: install apps with Downloader. You only do this once.
  2. Open Downloader, select the address box and type tivimate.com/apk (TiviMate’s official download), then select Go.
  3. When the download finishes, select Install, then Done.
  4. Select Delete twice to remove the installer file. TiviMate stays installed.

Step 2: Add your rentIPTV login

  1. Open TiviMate and select Add playlist.
  2. Choose Xtream Codes.
  3. Enter:
  • Server address: http://server1.rentiptv.com:8880
  • Username: demo4821
  • Password: pass7395
  1. Select Next. TiviMate checks the login and shows how many channels, movies and series it found.
  2. Give the playlist a name such as rentIPTV and select Done.

Use Xtream Codes rather than an M3U link: TiviMate then loads the TV guide, movies and series automatically. The server address must include http:// and :8880.

Step 3: Load the TV guide

TiviMate usually loads the guide by itself in a minute or two. If it’s empty, go to Settings > EPG and select Update EPG. Turn on Update on app start so it stays current. More TV guide help.

Getting around

  • Channel list: press OK while watching, or left on the remote.
  • TV guide: press OK on a channel group, or open TV guide from the side menu.
  • Movies and series: open the side menu (press left on the home screen) and choose Movies or TV shows.
  • Search: in the side menu, select Search and type a channel or title.

Make TiviMate your own

Hide countries you don’t watch

Go to Settings > Playlists, select your playlist, then Manage groups. Untick the groups you don’t need and drag the rest into your preferred order. With 14,000+ channels, this makes a big difference. More tips.

Favourites (Premium)

Highlight a channel, press and hold OK and choose Add to favourites.

Catch-up and recording (Premium)

Channels with catch-up show a small rewind or clock icon. Scroll back in the guide and select a programme that has already aired. To record, highlight a programme in the guide, press OK and choose Record. How catch-up and recording work.

Subtitles and audio language

While watching, press OK, then select the gear icon > Subtitles or Audio track. More about audio and subtitles.

Multi-view (Premium)

Watch up to four channels on one screen, useful when several matches are on at once. Press and hold OK on a channel and choose Multi-view. Each channel uses one of your plan’s devices. How devices work.

Sleep timer

While watching, press OK, select the gear icon and choose Sleep timer.

Getting TiviMate Premium

Premium is bought through the TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone or tablet, not inside TiviMate on a Fire TV Stick.

  1. On an Android phone, install TiviMate Companion from Google Play.
  2. Open it, create an account and buy Premium.
  3. On your TV, open TiviMate and try any Premium feature (for example, adding a favourite). Choose Unlock and sign in with the same TiviMate Companion account.

One Premium account covers several devices. If you don’t have an Android phone, an Android TV box with Google Play also works.
