Android TV and Google TV (including Chromecast with Google TV, Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense TVs, and Nvidia Shield) can run every popular IPTV player. Most are on Google Play, so setup takes about five minutes.
The login details in this guide (username demo4821, password pass7395) are examples. Use the ones from your own welcome email.
Step 1: Install a player from Google Play
Open Google Play on the TV and install one of these:
- TiviMate IPTV Player: best TV guide, feels like a cable box. TiviMate guide.
- XCIPTV Player: fast and light, good on older TVs. XCIPTV guide.
- IPTV Smarters Pro: simple sections for Live TV, Movies and Series. If it isn’t on Google Play in your country, see the next section.
Not sure? Which IPTV app should I use?
Step 2: Sign in
Open the app and choose Xtream Codes (or “Xtream Codes API”). Enter:
- Server URL:
http://server1.rentiptv.com:8880 - Username:
demo4821 - Password:
pass7395
The app loads live TV, movies, series and the TV guide.
Apps that aren’t on Google Play
Some IPTV players aren’t on Google Play, so you install them with the free Downloader app. First allow Downloader to install apps:
- Open Google Play, search for Downloader (by AFTVnews) and install it.
- Go to Settings > System > About. Scroll to Android TV OS build and select it 7 times until you see “You are now a developer”.
- Go back to Settings > Apps > Security & restrictions > Unknown sources and turn Downloader on.
On older Android TV boxes the setting is under Settings > Device preferences > Security & restrictions > Unknown sources.
Then open Downloader, type one of our short links (for example www.rentiptv.org/iptv-smarters-pro) and select Go, then Install. All short links are listed in the Downloader guide.
Tips for Android TV
- Connect by Ethernet if your TV or box has a port.
- Turn off motion smoothing in the TV’s picture settings if sport looks jerky.
- If streams buffer, see the buffering checklist and Android troubleshooting.
